________ Mondays!

Hey there peeps. I've decided to dedicate today's mash-up fun to one of the best authors out there. Robin McKinley surprised me again with her adult paranormal novel, "Sunshine."

I still recall being in the library at school sometime in the sixth grade and discovering her novel "Beauty," and was reminded why Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy-tale.

A year or so later I found "The Hero and the Crown," which remains my favorite to this day. I've read "Spindle's End" and "The Blue Sword." But somehow it's hard to forget those first special books you read that continue to be your favorites. I'm sharing a few links here so you can check them and Ms. McKinley out for yourselves!

For any fans of "Deerskin" here's a fanmade trailer:

Teaser Tuesdays!

I suppose this is technically cheating since It' s 1:04 A.M of Tuesday morning and most of you are asleep. But this time, unfortunately happens to be the best time for me to write. Today I'm working on finishing up last revisions on Silver Hollow. I've learned a lot about "dangling modifiers" thanks to RJ lol. She's a trooper for plunging through the mess of my second draft. Anyhow, here's a sampling of some awesome teamwork. :D

The male was gripping the knife stuck in his belly, his frosted appearance only turning paler by the second as he sank to the earth. “Bloody nixed blade,” he gasped with a cackle.

“Who are you working for?” Faye shouted, throwing the Unseelie over his fallen soldiers. Instead of waiting for the male to speak, she screamed louder this time, red crackles of dark energy piercing his flesh. “And don’t give me some filsh about us being on the same side!” Pulling her dagger from his belly so the blood could freely flow, she quickly returned it to the outer edges of the wound and began to press it slightly within.
Amie couldn’t bear to hear his screams. “Faye! Stop, he can’t hurt anyone anymore!” Dearg held her back when she tried to reach and grab the dagger from her friend’s hand.

Faye laughed bitterly, never looking up from her prey. “You don’t know what they do, Amie. There never will be an end to his kind of evil. Good people don’t threaten other people’s families!”

“But aren’t you the one who said not all Unseelie are bad, just like not all Seelie are good? Faye, please! No more killing tonight. I can’t stand it anymore!” She sank into Dearg’s arms, eyeing the house, and wondered again if Henry made it unscathed.

Faye at last lifted her chin to face her, and something softened in her eyes. The Unseelie shouldn’t have interrupted his only chance.

“You’ll never guess what we did to your sister.” the-snow skinned male cackled, choking on its own blue colored blood even as her dagger was pressed to its throat.

Faye’s eyes glowed like twin coals amid dying flames. “How do you know about her?” Crawling almost on top of the other Unseelie, she pressed her other blade so tightly to his throat, Amie was certain he would bleed at any moment.

The Unseelie’s smile was manic, his laughter growing as if she had said something particularly gleeful. “We know everything, Fayelyn Gomora, about you and your pathetic clan. Don’t you want to know?”

“Know what? You’re supposed to have all the answers, right?” Faye’s thin tone could have cut through ice.
Amie cringed seeing her friend like this, a wholly alien version of the person she thought she knew best. But was this because of what happened to Jo? Or had it been there all along, the assassins she and Jo were trained to be?
“Want to know what we did to her? It’s got to be killing you, wondering how she died.”

The Unseelie couldn’t laugh after Faye removed his ability to speak.

_________ Mondays!

Eep! I almost forgot again, thanks in part to DWTS and the fact I seem to be trying to cough up a lung...
I digress.
Today's mash-up is dedicated to a list of books I own but have not read yet. I'm sure y'all are guilty of the same thing. You go online and find either an Indie book that's for a cheap price or an awesome cover/synopsis. And then later, as you try to finish up your R&R's or work on your book, you completely forget about them. This post is for the lonely books in my Kindle library ;)

"Stay" Cover Reveal

Hey there peeps!

I am pleased to show you the cover art for my upcoming New Adult paranormal romance novel, Stay. This is a rough final draft, and may be subject to a few more tweaks. But I had to brag on my stellar cover artist for the moment!

"Stay", is about a young woman who has made the mistake of falling her heart, in the ancient past.
She has been cursed by the immortal she loved.
Now she is doomed to walk the earth, rescuing true love wherever she is summoned.
But she is unprepared for the challenges of the new couple she meets.
It might not be a problem to remain invisible, if the man didn't wear the immortal's face.

Stay tuned for more updates on this, and my upcoming novel, Silver Hollow.

Teaser Tuesdays!

Today's teaser comes from my upcoming novel, Silver Hollow. It's about a young woman who is convinced by her estranged relative to travel across the world and she is soon thrown into a fantastical journey. Now that I've received the edited draft, I'm finishing up revisions. Look forward to the release next month!

Ever since then she preferred fantasy to the hard real world. That was why writing gritty paranormal romance thrillers had been so easy a dish to swallow. Something stirred from the twist of the crag above. Had the car finally decided to arrive? Amie turned from the empty train tracks and peered either way down the road behind the shed, but could see nothing other than a persistent fog. Rolling her eyes, she murmured, “Great. Now we’ve entered into a Gothic Romance. Bring on the Heathcliffs and Rochesters…” Her short laugh died the moment she saw the high heads of two dark horses and the black carriage behind them. “You have got to be kidding me…”
The fog must have been playing tricks on her mind, because in the next moment the carriage was before her and the hunched-over man driving it tipped up his top hat with a gloved hand. “Afraid not, miss! So sorry to have kept you waiting! Hope it hasn’t been too long, aye?” His pale brown eyes twinkled brightly in his grizzled face.

Amie managed to shut her gaping mouth and inclined her head to the carriage door. “I’m riding to my uncle’s in that?” There was no doubt this was the mysterious Henry’s doing. It was right up there with his strange letters and her father’s old stories. Insanity must run through the family.
The man laughed and eased back in his seat. “Aye!” he said. “’Tis the idea, miss. Least those were my orders from the Master. You are the Lady Jessamiene of Wenderdowne, are you not?” Even his horses stood quietly and inclined their heads towards her then.

Amie blinked dumbly back. “Ah, yeah, I guess so, whatever Uncle Henry says,” she laughed. “Never imagined the old codger would give me this dramatic a welcome, though.” Noticing that the old man’s smile had turned a puzzled frown at her odd words, she changed the subject. Picking up her bags, she posed, “I’m guessing we have a long ride back?”

Out of Towner!

I'm going out of town this weekend to the big woods woot! Super excited about this, but I realized a few minutes ago I would miss sharing my Friday Fav with you.

Today's fav is going to be dedicated to Phatpuppy Art! Laugh at the wacky name all you want, or admire it for it's originality and overall coolness ;), but hold your breath until you've actually seen some of her stuff.

She's one of the most popular cover artists out there now. If you don't believe me, maybe these will ring a bell ;)

I don't think I can officially post any of her art on here due to copyright mumbo jumbo, but you should really check this url link out!

Here's website link!

Hope y'all have a fantabulous weekend :D

Teaser Tuesday!

Here's the latest from my little workshop ;)

“I think you should let him play his instrument.” I simply stated. The answer seemed so obvious I wondered that he hadn’t seen it.
Bryan fought a grin before saying, “Oh you do, huh? You’ve figured him out already, after only spending three days holed up in that rat’s nest of his?”
I frowned, not appreciating his tone, yet not fully comprehending his meaning. “I am not well versed in this way of speech. You people always say things you do not mean. But I speak the truth.”
Not all the time, though, do you princess perfect?Bryan observed me from over the rim of his glass before leaning forward on the bar and saying, “I like you, kid. Tell you what, you manage to convince my little cousin to get on that stage, I’ll make sure he has a spot tomorrow night. We got a deal?”
I wanted to laugh at him for calling me a child. Being an immortal made everyone presently alive on this earth a child to me. But I could just picture Cain on that stage, fingers primed on the strings and that special look on his face.  The one he had when I caught him playing the night before, because of me. Knowing what I planned to do to him and Lissa, I wanted him to have this happiness.
Perhaps this will be enough?I knew I was fooling myself. But what else could I do but try? So I accepted Bryan’s proffered hand and returned his smile. “The deal is struck.”

_______ Mondays!

Here we go peeps, another mash up!
Today's meme is in honor of my good friend Melissa Wright's recent release of "Rise of the Seven" of her Frey saga!

When I found out I had to do a little happy dance in my head!

So why are you still watching the Carlton video over and over again ;) Check this out!

Now before you go further, you absolutely have to go back and read the first three installments! I've read a lot of Indie/Traditional out there and my favorite Elf Fantasy YA series is by far Frey. Here's a taste of what you're getting yourselves into:

Unaware she's been bound from using magic, Frey leads a small, miserable life in the village where she's sent after the death of her mother. But a tiny spark starts a fury of changes and she finds herself running from everything she's ever known. Hunted by council for practicing dark magic, she is certain she's been wrongfully accused. She flees, and is forced to rely on strangers for protection. But the farther she strays from home, the more her magic and forgotten memories return and she begins to suspect all is not as it seems.
RoTS Blurb:

Memories and magic recovered, Frey is restored to the throne. But as she works to regain control of the North, a small silver dagger nearly brings her end. She raises the Seven of her guard and proves her abilities in order to secure her position. But another attempt on her life, from what appears to be fey, reveals not all are pleased with her return. If she could only figure out the force behind the attacks, she might be able to relax enough to decide what to do about her other problem... Chevelle.

So go Melissa! And her awesome editor RJ. It's not every day that an Indie author manages to reach thousands. And authors like you truly are my hero.

Here's a few other links you readers should check out :)

And because I couldn't resist....

Favored Fridays

End of another week woohoo! I'm so happy even though this weekend won't be as relaxing as the last. For today's fav friday, I thought I'd share my favorite Indy Books so far this year. It's connected to my Amazon profile and you can find the Listimania link HERE

Hope you enjoy!

Oh and there's this video that cracked me up last night. Promise I'm not a hater, but with as ridiculously popular as this guy is, as overplayed as his songs are, this made me laugh.

For all you "Walking Dead" fans!

Teaser Teus...Wed...Thursdays...what?

So I totally lost it this week, I'm thinking. Can't believe I missed the ball this week. But I'll blame it on life lol. We're all allowed to slip up every now and then. :)
Anyways, I'm working on a new book currently, so I'll give you a little teaser from it. It's called Stay. Here's the very latest.

My foot tapped of its own free will, to the music being played by the band on stage. With my eyes shut, I could almost remember the sound of the waves and how they had been our personal chorus. I could almost hear the way his voice sounded as he sang to me. People lived to a different sort of music in my time than they did now. But the emotions hidden beneath those songs remained the same.It left me with an ache I could not appease.

Opening my eye I found my surroundings to be far cruder than my dream-like memories. The area behind the stage curtains was nothing more than a narrow strip, leading down a set of stairs that tapered off into the dressing rooms. I had been waiting here, listening and savoring the hubbub of humanity without the frustration of drinking in their emotions. With Cain so nearby my gift was considerably dulled and I was learning to better control it. If I had known it could be so simple a solution, to turn the switch on and off around this lesser species, I might have broken the rules long ago.

But he wouldn’t have wanted you to know this comfort, would he?

Wrapping my arms over the rich yellow silk dress Mrs. Nguyen had bartered to give back to me, I tried to back into the brick wall at my back. Avoiding bumping into people was nearly impossible, I soon discovered after Cain deposited me here. Music was constantly playing, sometimes loud and brassy, others soft and crooning. Bryan, the host of the evening was occasionally called up to make new announcements.
He was speaking now about the next act in their lineup of entertainment for the evening. “Now I know you’ve all heard this sweet little gem croon the greats. Tonight we’ve got a special treat for you…”

Turning my attention from his words to peek through the curtains, I sought Cain’s frame guarding the entrance. He had been nervous the moment we walked inside earlier, keeping me wrapped tightly against him until we made it backstage. No sooner had he deposited me than my instructions were given. “Stay here, but try not to get too involved. If Bry corners you just remind him he owes me a favor.” And then he was off.

I was good at being invisible, even when slightly perturbed over my beloved’s concerns. When we first set off for the club, Cain had been so excited, telling me more stories of the famous people who had played and sang there in the past. Yet something shifted in his demeanor the moment the club was in sight. A steady trickle of early customers could be seen making their way in. And Cain’s mask was back in place, only this time with the added edge to his every look and word.

What troubles him so? Is it because of Lissa or something deeper?

_____ Mondays!

Here we are! Another week began. But the great thing is we're already counting down to the weekend. Sometimes I feel like I live my life for the weekends lol. Anyways, since yesterday I did a rather extensive version of this meme, I'm just going to pitch something little that I recently discovered.

Remember, rules for today is you can pitch on anything you want to share, be it your own works, blog or something you just discovered.

Today I'm blogging about this awesome giveaway from Mostly YA Book Obsessed. She's got a really neat site you ought to check out. And she's giving away TWENTY books to one lucky winner. Now if you're anything like me that's the equivalent of shoving coffee under the nose of a caffeine addict ;P
I'm obviously joined in because I'm posting about it right now. But I felt it also qualified for today's new discovery! Enjoy!

Here's Her Link
